Why Choose PEEK
-
Highest Temperature Resistance of Any Standard Thermoplastic
PEEK maintains mechanical properties up to 250°C continuous — significantly beyond PA66 (120°C), POM (90°C), or PC (130°C). For components in direct contact with steam, high-temperature process fluids, or operating near heat sources, PEEK is the correct thermoplastic choice.
-
Exceptional Mechanical Strength
Unfilled PEEK has a tensile strength of ~100 MPa and a flexural modulus of ~4 GPa — the strongest of any common thermoplastic. Glass-filled and carbon-filled grades reach 200 MPa and 10+ GPa modulus respectively, entering the territory of aluminum alloys at a fraction of the weight.
-
Broad Chemical Resistance
PEEK resists most organic solvents, fuels, hydraulic fluids, steam, and many acids and bases at elevated temperature — a chemical resistance profile that approaches PTFE for most practical applications, combined with structural strength that PTFE cannot provide.
-
Biocompatibility and Radiolucency
PEEK is non-toxic, non-reactive in the body, and radiolucent (does not block X-rays) — making it the standard material for orthopedic spinal implants, bone plates, and dental components. It is compatible with all sterilization methods including autoclave at 134°C.
